Having damaged all my fragile gloves, I bought several to replace it. Very inexpensive gloves, what is it worth … take a look!
Ayant abîmé mes gants toujours plus fragiles les uns que les autres, j’en ai acheté plusieurs en remplacement. Gants très peu coûteux, qu’est ce que ça vaut au final… regardons !

I – GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS / CONSIDERATIONS GENERALES

I.A – SIZE / TAILLE

The gloves tested are quite correct in size if you refer to the precise dimensions of your hands. I have large hands and should almost have taken 1 size above because the end of my fingers touches the seam. A little annoying when it’s brand new, I imagine it will be better with a bit use. I advise you to take the exact size indicated and if you are between two sizes, take the larger one.

Les gants testés sont plutôt corrects en taille si vous vous référencez aux dimensions précises de vos mains. J’ai pour ma part de grandes mains et aurais presque dû prendre 1 taille au dessus car l’extrémité de mes doigts touche la couture. Un peu gênant quand c’est tout neuf, j’imagine que ça va se faire. Je vous conseille de prendre la taille exacte indiquée et si vous êtes entre deux tailles, prenez la plus grande.

I.B – TOUCH SCREEN COMPATIBILITY / COMPATIBILITE SURFACES TACTILES

All the gloves I have tested are fitted on the thumb and forefinger from both hands with a material intended to allow the use of a smartphone or a tablet. In use it works but with a certain latency, not as practical as with your fingers but it does the job for short uses without having to remove the glove.

Tous les gants que j’ai testés sont équipés sur le pouce et l’index des deux mains d’une matière prévue pour permettre l’utilisation d’un smartphone ou une tablette. À l’utilisation cela fonctionne mais avec une certaine latence, pas aussi pratique qu’avec ses doigts mais ça fait le travail pour des manipulations courtes sans avoir à enlever le gant.

I.C – HOT WEATHER VERSIONS / VERSIONS TEMPS CHAUD

Some models are available in standard version or in hot weather version. They are actually simple holes on the palms of the hands and the inside of the fingers (except the thumb). Concretely, at equivalent price, take the standard model, there will always be time to make holes yourself later (using a soldering iron or a drill).

Certains modèles sont proposés en version standard ou en version temps chaud. Il s’agit en fait de simples trous sur la paume des mains et l’intérieur des doigts (sauf le pouce). Concrètement, à prix équivalent, prenez le modèle standard, il sera toujours temps de faire des trous vous même par la suite (au fer à souder ou à la perceuse).

II – MODEL REVIEWS / REVIEWS PAR MODELES

II.A – SHIELD FLEX – Hot weather – Olive

Manufacturer description: Shield Flex® Hot Weather is a completely new model in the Armored Claw series of gloves. A known and well-liked cut was expanded upon with several interesting solutions that improve protection and comfort of wearing. The knuckles feature soft protectors that absorb shock and protect from trauma. The most interesting solution implemented in the gloves, however, is a stiff TPU protector on the outside.
Made from an extremely durable polymer covered with foam for better amortization. As the insert might become obsolete for certain activities that the users might have to conduct, the manufacturer has decided to implement the incredibly useful function that is the option of removal of the protector. If the user considers the protector expendable in a particular situation, the protector can be taken out from a special compartment with a hook and loop fastener.

What is notable about this model:
– Spandex, synthetic leather, neopren
– A shell protects the joints at the base of the fingers, no discomfort there.
– The shell can be easily removed thanks to a scratch, which allows to adopt a more “free” profile for the hand.
– Two foam inserts in the palm, soft, they do not stiffen the glove but the long one at the base of the fingers changes the grip of a replica handle and may require some time to adapt.
– Closure at the base with a silicone band which has a scratch. The glove can thus be well tightened avoiding it to be torn off or that sand or soil get into it.
– “Hot weather” version: 9 holes of 1 mm in diameter on the palm and 13 others on the 4 fingers.
– Tactile thumb and index.
– Referenced in olive color, this isn’t an error after verification, the color does not correspond to the “olive” that is usually found in airsoft and which is very green. Here the color is a khaki halfway between green and brown.

Ce qui est notable sur ce modèle :
– Spandex, cuir synthétique, néoprene
– Une coque protège les articulations à la base des doigts, aucune gêne à ce niveau.
– La coque peut être retirée facilement grâce à un scratch, ce qui permet d’adopter un profil plus “libre” pour la main.
– Deux inserts en mousse dans la paume, mous, ils ne rigidifient pas le gant mais la longue à la base des doigts modifie la prise en main d’une poignée de réplique et nécessitera peut être un temps d’adaptation.
– Fermeture à la base grâce à une bande silicone dotée d’un scratch. Le gant peut ainsi être bien serré lui évitant d’être arraché ou que du sable ou de la terre ne rentrent dedans.
– Version “temps chaud” : 9 trous d’1 mm de diamètre sur la paume et 13 autres sur les 4 doigts du bout de la main.
– Pouce et index tactiles.
– Référencé en couleur olive, il ne s’agit pas d’une erreur après vérification, la couleur ne correspond pas au “olive” que l’on trouve habituellement en airsoft et qui est très vert. Ici la couleur est un kaki à mi-chemin entre le vert et le marron.

II.B – ACCURACY – Standard weather – Grey

Manufacturer description: Armored Claw Accuracy are multi-purpose, universal tactical gloves for all kinds of outdoor activities. Made almost entirely of neoprene and spandex they are very comfortable even when used for a long time. Interesting feature is additional terry panel located on the thumb.
Thanks to the properties of terry, user can use it to sweep the forehead when it gets sweaty. Like most of Armored Claw gloves, the Accuracy model is touchscreen compatible.

What is notable about this model:
– Spandex, synthetic leather, neopren, sponge tissue
– No rigid protection of the joints or foam inserts in the palm, the grip will be as if you didn’t have a glove, without any discomfort or feeling of unusual.
– The thumb is made of a sponge material which allows to wipe perspiration with the back of the hand, why not as long as this material does not weaken the glove, to be seen…
– The thumb and forefinger are provided with fine plastic reinforcements, which will prevent premature wear when you use the clamp function of your hand, for example to unscrew the cap of a bottle. Interesting but quite annoying the bending of the index, I imagine that with a little use it will soften, I hope it in any case!
– Closure at the base with a silicone band with a scratch. The glove can thus be well tightened avoiding it to be torn off or that sand or soil get into it.
– Tactile thumb and index.
– Referenced in gray color, there is a discreet pale blue shade inside, very pleasant to look at!

Ce qui est notable sur ce modèle :
– Spandex, cuir synthétique, néoprene, tissu éponge
– Pas de protection rigide des articulations ni d’inserts en mousse dans la paume, la préhension se fera comme si vous n’aviez pas de gant, sans aucune gêne ou sensation d’inhabituel.
– Le pouce est constitué d’une matière éponge qui permet d’essuyer sa transpiration d’un revers de main, pourquoi pas tant que cette matière ne fragilise pas le gant, à voir…
– Le pouce et l’index sont dotés de renforts plastiques fins, ce qui évitera une usure prématurée lorsque vous utilisez la fonction pince de votre main, pas exemple pour dévisser le bouchon d’une bouteille. Intéressant mais gêne assez la flexion de l’index, j’imagine qu’avec un peu d’utilisation ça va s’assouplir, j’espère en tous les cas !
– Fermeture à la base grâce à une bande silicone dotée d’un scratch. Le gant peut ainsi être bien serré lui évitant d’être arraché ou que du sable ou de la terre ne rentrent dedans.
– Pouce et index tactiles.
– Référencé en couleur gris, il y a une discrète teinte bleu pâle dedans, très agréable au regard !

II.C – COVERT PRO – Standard weather – Sage green

Manufacturer description: The name of Armored Claw Kevlar gloves speaks for itself. Made of genuine DuPont® Kevlar® fiber and natural leather they provide user with very good level of protection against cuts. What is more – they are fireproof and they don’t conduct electricity.
All those qualities make them not only highly useful during different kinds of outdoor activities, but very practical for maintenance and repairs.

What is notable about this model:
– Spandex, synthetic leather, neopren
– No rigid protection of the joints but a system of gusset seams, very flexible, which “unfolds” by closing the hand, very pleasant, will absorb minor shocks without bringing stiffness / rigidity.
– Three foam inserts in the palm, soft, they don’t stiffen the glove but their assembly changes the grip of a replica handle and may require time to adapt. Note that although there are more foam inserts than on the SHIELD FLEX model (see above), the grip of a pistol for example is less disturbed because the large foam surface gives the impression of an overall thickness while the shield flex tends to change the grip angle.
– The 4 fingers (not the thumb) are covered on the middle phalange with a small protective foam pad. I don’t know if it was intended to fall on the joints or not … at least with me it falls on the phalanges!
– The thumb has a reinforcement in the same material as the palm of the hand, nothing special to say more about it.
– Closure at the base with a silicone band with a scratch. The glove can thus be well tightened avoiding it to be torn off or that sand or soil get into it.
– Tactile thumb and index.
– Referenced in sage green color, this rather corresponds to the “olive” color that we usually know (the gloves referenced in olive being rather khaki, see above).

Ce qui est notable sur ce modèle :
– Spandex, cuir synthétique, néoprene
– Pas de protection rigide des articulations mais un système de coutures à soufflets, très souple, qui se “déplie” en fermant la main, très agréable, absorbera des chocs mineurs sans apporter de raideur/rigidité.
– Trois inserts en mousse dans la paume, mous, ils ne rigidifient pas le gant mais leur ensemble modifie la prise en main d’une poignée de réplique et nécessitera peut être un temps d’adaptation. À noter que bien qu’il y ait davantage d’inserts de mousse que sur le modèle SHIELD FLEX (Cf. plus haut), la prise en main d’un pistolet par exemple est moins perturbée car la grande surface de mousse donne une impression d’épaisseur globale tandis que le shield flex tend à modifier l’angle de prise en main.
– Les 4 doigts (pas le pouce) sont recouverts sur la phalange du milieu d’une petite pastille de mousse protectrice. Je ne sais si elle était prévue pour tomber sur les articulations ou non… en tout cas chez moi ça tombe sur les phalanges !
– Le pouce est dotés d’un renfort dans la même matière que la paume de la main, rien de particulier à dire de plus à ce sujet.
– Fermeture à la base grâce à une bande silicone dotée d’un scratch. Le gant peut ainsi être bien serré lui évitant d’être arraché ou que du sable ou de la terre ne rentrent dedans.
– Pouce et index tactiles.
– Référencé en couleur sage green, cela correspond plutôt à la couleur “olive” que nous connaissons habituellement (les gants référencés en olive étant plutôt kaki, Cf. plus haut).

II.D – QUICK RELEASE – Standard weather – Tan

Manufacturer description: Quick Release is another new model of Armored Claw tactical gloves. They are light gloves with simple design which makes them extremely universal – we can use them both in combat and for numerous every day tasks and situations.
Thanks to the use of Spandex they are flexible and fit the hand perfectly, ensuring high comfort of work. We can easily treat Quick Release gloves as a part of EDC gear (Every Day Carry) – always handy when there’s job to be done!

What is notable about this model:
– Spandex, synthetic leather
– No rigid protection of the joints nor foam inserts on the palms, the gloves simply cover the hand without disturbing the sensations. The downside is that these gloves protect almost only against minor attacks such as friction or brambles.
– No reinforcement either on the thumb or forefinger.
– The glove doesn’t have a Velcro closure but with an elastic that doesn’t compress the wrist. This will prevent dust from getting into the glove but won’t keep it in place if the stress is strong. So if the glove is stuck somewhere, it could come off your hand.
– A slightly longer glove which will cover the wrist a little more, but for example it won’t completely cover a watch.
– Tactile thumb and index.
– Referenced in Tan color, again it turns a little more on another color, rather coyote brown than tan but it remains consistent.

Ce qui est notable sur ce modèle :
– Spandex, cuir synthétique
– Pas de protection rigide des articulations ni inserts en mousse sur les paumes, les gants recouvrent simplement la main sans en perturber les sensations. La contrepartie c’est que ces gants protègent presque uniquement contre les agressions mineures comme les frottements ou ronces.
– Pas de renfort non plus sur le pouce ou l’index.
– Le gant n’est pas doté d’une fermeture par scratch mais au moyen d’un élastique qui ne comprime pas le poignet. Cela empêchera la poussière de rentrer dans le gant mais ne le maintiendra pas en place si la solicitation est forte. Au final si le gant reste accroché quelque part, il pourrait s’enlever de votre main.
– Gant un tout petit peu plus long qui couvrira un peu plus le poignet mais par exemple il ne couvrira pas complètement une montre.
– Pouce et index tactiles.
– Référencé en couleur Tan, là encore ça vire un peu plus sur une autre couleur, plutôt coyote brown que tan mais ça reste cohérent.

II.E – QUICK RELEASE – Hot weather – Black

Same as previous with 29 holes on palm and fingers.
Les mêmes que précédemment mais avec 29 trous sur la palme et les doigts.

III – CONCLUSION

These gloves all look great. I just regret that each model has its own specificities and that some models are not closer with one or two functions more or less. It may be demanding given the number of models available but none of these gloves gets a “wow this one is perfect!”. I would have liked to have an ACCURACY model that doesn’t have palm reinforcements, with the gusseted protection sewn from the COVERT PRO model or the rigid removable protection from the SHIELD FLEX model. But to tell the truth, all of them suit me well and there will inevitably be a model which will suit “rather” well with everyone, the hardest part will be to make its selection with the purchase and I admit that I struggled well. To facilitate your choice and compare the models, I invite you to focus on the palm and articulation reinforcements which are what vary the most from one model to another. Do not buy at full price, I have always seen them on sale somewhere and for information, the 5 presented pairs cost me a total of 21 euros … Watch for promotions!

Ces gants semblent tous très bien. Je regrette simplement que chaque modèle ait ses propres spécificités et que certains modèles ne soient pas plus proches avec une ou deux fonctions en plus ou en moins. C’est peut être exigeant au vu du nombre de modèles disponibles mais aucun de ces gants n’obtient un “waouw celui là est parfait !”. J’aurai aimé avoir un modèle ACCURACY qui n’a pas les renforts de paume, doté de la protection à soufflet cousu du modèle COVERT PRO ou de la protection rigide retirable du modèle SHIELD FLEX. Mais à vrai dire, tous me vont bien et il y aura forcément un modèle qui conviendra “plutôt” bien à tout le monde, le plus dur sera de faire sa sélection à l’achat et j’avoue que j’ai bien galéré. Pour faciliter votre choix et comparer les modèles, je vous invite à vous focaliser sur les renforts de paume et d’articulation qui sont ce qui varie le plus d’un modèle à l’autre. N’achetez pas au prix fort, je les ai toujours vu soldés quelque part et pour information, les 5 paires présentées m’ont coûté en tout 21 euros… Guettez les promotions !
